Being short, I have never really been able to bring myself to wear long skirts. Either they're about three feet longer than they're supposed to be or I just won't try them on for fear that I'll look even shorter. For someone who is regularly asked what high school they attend, this is not the kind of attention wanted. If you've read my previous posts you'll know that I regularly shop at stores like American Apparel and have been influenced by their styles. So once upon a time in L.A., I ventured into one of their shops and decided to face my fashion fear. And I loved it.
The trick isn't being taller, being thinner or being Gisele Bunchen, it's finding the right shape for your body. Obviously, staring at those posters of girls that are 5'9" and 110 pounds isn't going to make you look like them, and neither should you want to. If you can find the right form that brings out your attributes you're going to look fabulous. And bonus- there are store attendants that will help you do just that. Picture your body shape in your mind then imagine those pieces on you. This will give you a much better picture than what the mannequins can give you.
This is a great look for Fall, especially if you're sick of wear jeans but need coverage from those stiff breezes. Plus you don't have to worry about these bad boys flying up when you're wearing ugly underwear! So be afraid of maxis no longer!
Until next time, urbanistas.
